Southeastern Oregon RMP Amendment
The BLM develops comprehensive long-term decisions through land use planning to guide management decisions and actions on public lands. Plan Amendments typically focus on updating an existing RMP to deal with a limited set of specific issues. This usually results in changes to some existing management decisions, while decisions for other issues, resources, uses or areas are not modified or amended.
In 2010, the Vale District BLM initiated a land use plan amendment of the 2002 Southeastern Oregon Resource Management Plan and conducted public scoping of issues. The Draft SEORMP Amendment and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was published in May 2019. More than 4,000 comments from the public, state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, cooperating agencies and Tribal interests were received. With this input, the BLM developed the Proposed RMP Amendment and Final EIS (PRMPA/FEIS). The PRMPA/FEIS is available on the BLM’s National NEPA Register at https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/87435/510. The BLM has developed an interactive map of the PRMPA and alternatives at this location: https://apps.geocortex.com/webviewer/?app=5b4bd28c1a274fa38f5e8c6153afdacc.
Publication of the PRMPA/FEIS initiated a 30-day review and protest period. Instructions for filing a protest can be found online at https://www.blm.gov/
