The Steens Mountain Advisory Council has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, June 13, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a field tour in the Steens Mountain area, and Friday, June 14, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a business session.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLMs) Klamath Falls Field Office is hosting a Volunteer Event at Wood River Wetlands from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On June 1 on some BLM-administered lands in central Oregon, campfires will be prohibited along portions of the Crooked, Deschutes, John Day and White rivers, as well as Lake Billy Chinook and Lake Simtustus.

On May 24, fire restrictions will go into effect for all Bureau of Land Management public lands throughout Oregon and Washington.

BLM leaders announced that the Tillamook Field Office will be moving June 3rd. The BLM’s lease at the current facility will expire in June, and the Field Office will relocate to the Port of Tillamook Bay.

The Bureau of Land Management’s Klamath Falls Field Office is announcing the opening of the Gerber Campground in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

The BLM Lakeview District is hosting a star party on Saturday, June 1 at the Sunstone Public Collection Area from 10 p.m. to midnight. Sunstone is part of the Oregon Outback International Dark Sky Sanctuary.

To create a better recreation experience, BLM officials at the Prineville District have released a new edition of the John Day River Boater’s Guide. The release comes just in time for 2024’s river season.

Whittaker Creek and Clay Creek campgrounds will remain closed at the start of the 2024 season due to low staffing and the lack of campground host volunteers.

The Bureau of Land Management will close the Susan Creek Falls Trail, Monday through Friday, April 29 to May 17, 2024.
