BLM prescribed burning planned in the Hualapai Mountains

Fire managers will conduct prescribed burning near Pinion Pines, Atherton Acres, and Pine Lake; Hualapai Mountain Park; Hayden and Getz Peak communication sites; and Wild Cow Springs Campground between November 2024 and March 2025.

The BLM Elko District, Wells Field Office and Ely District, Bristlecone Field Office will begin a wild horse gather on or about Nov. 1, 2024, in and outside the Triple B Complex in Elko and White Pine counties, Nevada.

BLM opens Fortymile Caribou Federal Subsistence Hunt on October 27

The BLM will open the Fortymile caribou federal subsistence hunt on federal public lands in Units 20E, 25C and a portion of 20F on October 27, 2024​. The caribou hunt is limited to federally qualified rural residents.

BLM plans prescribed fire projects in Lassen County

Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management Eagle Lake Field Office will conduct prescribed burns to reduce hazardous fuels in north of Eagle Lake in Lassen County, beginning Tuesday, Oct 22, and continuing through November 30. Projects will occur only when weather and fuel conditions allow for safe and successful burning.

BLM plans prescribed fire projects in in northeast California, northwest Nevada

Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management Applegate Field Office will conduct prescribed burns in various northeast California and northwest Nevada locations during the fall and winter months. Projects are designed to improve habitat conditions and reduce wildfire risk. They include burning piles of brush and limbs created in fuels reduction projects, and broadcast burns on larger landscapes.

Bureau of Land Management are preparing to close Little Elk Mountain Road around November 1, 2024. A landslide is encroaching on the road, also known as BLM Road 16-8-36, around mile marker 1.4.
