Starting July 23, campfires will be prohibited on all Bureau of Land Management public lands throughout the Northwest Oregon District.

The Bureau of Land Management has canceled the planned wild horse and burro adoption Aug. 2-3, 2024, at the El Paso County Fair and Events Complex in Calhan, Colorado.

Bureau of Land Management issues emergency fire closure in Northwest Oregon District due fires in Lane County

The U.S. Forest Service, Idaho Department of Lands, and Bureau of Land Management in east-central Idaho has set Stage 1 fire restrictions as of Friday, July 19, 2024.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern Interior Field Office will open the Fortymile caribou federal subsistence hunt on August 1, with a harvest limit of two bull caribou.

The BLM CCFO is now accepting sealed contract bids for commercial pine nut gathering permits on nine identified units within the Indian Peaks and Mountain Home ranges. Bids must be submitted by 2 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2024.

The Northwest Resource Advisory Council will conduct a field tour on Aug. 21 and meeting on Aug. 22 in Grand Junction, CO.

The BLM Wyoming State Office today opened a 30-day public scoping period to receive public input on 4 oil and gas parcels totaling 2,443.11 acres that may be included in a March 2025 lease sale in WY.

Fire restrictions go into effect July 19 on BLM-managed lands in the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District, which includes public lands within Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs, Johnson, Natrona, Park, Sheridan and Washakie counties.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bureau of Land Management Bakersfield Field Office is issuing an emergency closure of the Chimney Peak Campground, Long Valley Campground, and a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail in Tulare County, due to wildland fire danger from the nearby SQF Lightning Fire. This temporary closure is effective immediately, until further notice. The emergency temporary closure order can also be found on the BLM website. The SQF Lightning Fire started Tuesday, July 13, and has burned more than 6,000 acres of short grass and brush near the Chimney Peak Recreation Area. Chimney Peak Recreation Area includes most of the Bakersfield Field Office's Southern Sierra Recreation sites and Wilderness areas, including Domelands Wilderness, Sacatar Trail Wilderness, Owens Peak Wilderness, Chimney Peak Wilderness, Long Valley Campground, Chimney Creek Campground, Walker Pass Campground, the Owens Peak segment of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, Lamont Peak and other wilderness trails. Only Chimney Peak, Long Valley Campgrounds, and a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail are affected by this order. The campgrounds are closed to all forms of public access to provide for public and firefighter safety in relation to the SQF Lightning Fire and management of that fire. The affected area includes all BLM lands south of Sherman Pass Road, west of Canebrake, north of Highway 178, and the boundary with Sequoia National Forest. The recreation areas are in Tulare County.
