The Bureau of Land Management today announced approval of two mineral exploration projects on public lands in the 29,956-acre Red Wash Potash Leasing Area of Grand County.

BLM plans gather of excess wild horses in Twin Peaks Herd Management Area

The Bureau of Land Management has announced plans to gather and remove excess wild horses from public rangelands in the Twin Peaks Herd Management Area to prevent impacts to rangeland health in Lassen County, Calif., and Washoe County, Nev. Gather operations will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1, and could continue for 15 days or longer.

BLM Colorado offers wild horses and burros for adoption in Florence

The Bureau of Land Management will host a wild horse and burro adoption Oct. 11-12, 2024, offering horses and burros at Pathfinder Regional Park in Florence, Colorado.

BLM to conduct prescribed fire at Point Arena

The Bureau of Land Management, Ukiah Field Office, plans to conduct prescribed fire operations in the Point Arena – Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument in Mendocino County. Pile-burn operations could start as soon as Oct. 1, and may continue periodically through the fall, winter and spring. Prescribed fire operations will take place only when weather and fuel moistures allow for safe and successful burning.

Volunteers welcome for National Public Lands Day events in Lassen County

The Bureau of Land Management and Lassen Land and Trails Trust are inviting outdoor enthusiasts to help with Lassen County cleanup and improvement projects in recognition of National Public Lands Day and Susanville Hometown Pride on Saturday, Sept. 28. Projects will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the historic Susanville Railroad Depot and along the Bizz Johnson Trail.
