BLM plans gather of excess wild horses in Twin Peaks Herd Management Area

The Bureau of Land Management has announced plans to gather and remove excess wild horses from public rangelands in the Twin Peaks Herd Management Area to prevent impacts to rangeland health in Lassen County, Calif., and Washoe County, Nev. Gather operations will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1, and could continue for 15 days or longer.

BLM to conduct prescribed fire at Point Arena

The Bureau of Land Management, Ukiah Field Office, plans to conduct prescribed fire operations in the Point Arena – Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument in Mendocino County. Pile-burn operations could start as soon as Oct. 1, and may continue periodically through the fall, winter and spring. Prescribed fire operations will take place only when weather and fuel moistures allow for safe and successful burning.
