Emerald Mountain Special Recreation Management Area temporary closures 

October 2 - temporary closure in effect

Ridge and Rotary Trail along with other lands within the Emerald Mountain Special Recreation Area outside Steamboat Springs are temporarily closed to all forms of entry. This order is to protect persons, property and public lands and resources for hand thinning in areas inaccessible to heavy equipment and mechanical mastication of oak and brush.

Beall Trail along with other lands within the Emerald Mountain Special Recreation Area outside Steamboat Springs are temporarily closed to all forms of entry. 

This order is to protect persons, property and public lands and resources for hand thinning, piling and to allow logging equipment access to the mixed conifer stands surrounding the Beall Trail.

Little Snake Seasonal Closures (Click HERE for Interactive Map)

December 1 - June 30

All areas south of the Ridge Trail within the Emerald Mountain Special Recreation Area outside Steamboat Springs, including Beall Trail and Kemry Draw, are closed to all forms of entry to protect elk during their sensitive winter and calving seasons. This closure corresponds with Colorado Parks and Wildlife lands to the east and the Humble Ranch property to the southeast.

Other trails such as Ridge, Rotary and Wild Rose trails at Emerald Mountain remain open all year and can be enjoyed by visitors.
