Event Description

Medford, Oregon – Due to a significant landslide, the Bureau of Land Management is closing the Rogue River Trail. BLM recreation staff were finally able to access the Rogue River Trail today after flood water receded. Less than half a mile from the Grave Creek Boat Ramp, the crews found a significant landslide that blocked the trail and created hazardous conditions. There may be other storm related impacts that haven’t been assessed by BLM staff yet. The trail is on a steep hillside and the damage creates significant safety issues for the public.

This closure order covers the BLM-managed portion of the Rogue River Trail, from Grave Creek to Marial.

Members of the public may not enter closed areas, and all uses—including hiking, hunting and dispersed camping—are prohibited.

A map of the closure area is available on the BLM Oregon/Washington Fire Restrictions webpage.

The heavy rainfall caused significant flooding, landslides, fallen trees, and damage to facilities across the Medford District. Our crews are out in the field conducting damage assessments and prioritizing repairs. If you find damage on BLM lands, please report it to the Medford District Office at 541-618-2200.

Avoid driving through flooded areas or on roads that look compromised. Watch out for debris and potentially damaged facilities like boat ramps and restrooms. Always follow warning and closure signs.
