Desert Advisory Council Seeks Applications for DRECP Implementation Subgroup

(BLM Photo)MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - The California Desert District Advisory Council (DAC) seeks to establish a Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) Implementation Subgroup to assist the BLM in the implementation of the DRECP in the California Desert. The subgroup will provide input and advice regarding current or proposed actions by BLM, and aid in accurately communicating the DRECP implementation process and activities to interested parties. The subgroup will report its findings to the full DAC during scheduled public meetings in order to ultimately advise the BLM’s California Desert District Manager.

This announcement begins a 45-day public application period that will end April 17, 2017.

Persons interested in serving should meet at least one of the following qualifications: 

            *  A representative of environmental groups or organizations.
            *  A representative of renewable resources groups or organizations.
            *  A representative motorized recreation groups or organizations.
            *  A representative of non-motorized groups or organizations.
            *  A representative of wildlife groups or organizations.
            *  A representative of the renewable energy industry.
            *  A representative of transportation/rights-of-way groups or organizations.
            *  A representative of tribal interests.
            *  A representative of the public-at-large.

Those wishing to apply for consideration as a member should submit their applications to External Affairs, BLM CDD, 22835 Calle San Juan de Los Lagos, Moreno Valley, CA 92553, or srazo@blm.gov, no later than April 17, 2017. All members of the DAC DRECP Implementation Subgroup will serve two-year terms without salary and meet as needed to fulfill objectives. All members of the subgroup will be required to disclose any direct or indirect interest in leases, licenses, permits, contracts, or claims that involve lands or resources administered by the BLM, or in any litigation related thereto.  No subgroup member will participate in any matter in which the member has a direct interest.  Selection and appointment of subgroup members is by the DAC with the concurrence of the designated federal official.
