BLM seeks public input for Digital Path expansion of Broadband service project

CARSON CITY, NEV. The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, Sierra Front Office, is seeking public input as it initiates an Environmental Assessment for the Digital Path’s proposed Communication Site on Chilcoot Ridge in Lassen County, California. The BLM is also requesting public input under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for the project. This includes seeking information and identifying historic properties in or near the project area.
The BLM will be analyzing the direct, indirect, and cumulative effects for the proposed project. Public comments will be accepted through April 19, 2020.The proposed communication site would provide high-speed wireless internet and phone services to residents and businesses in the Chilcoot, Beckwourth, and unincorporated areas along Highways 70, 40, and 395. The location also allows the necessary microwave links to and from the southwest, east, and northeast directions to make the project successful.
