BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed White Pine County Land Sales

ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management Ely District, Bristlecone Field Office is proposing to offer through a competitive sale three parcels totaling approximately 431.53 acres of public lands in White Pine County, Nevada. The legal land descriptions for these parcels are as follows:

  • Parcel N-94524 is located approximately three miles north of Ely, Nevada off of Highway 93 in White Pine County, Nevada

                        T. 17 N., R. 63 E., sec. 22; NW¼SW¼, SW¼SW¼
                        The area described contains 80.00 acres.

  • Parcel N-94525 is located approximately three miles southeast of Ely, Nevada on the west side of Highway 6 (Pioche Highway) in White Pine County, Nevada

                        T. 16 N., R. 63 E., sec. 26; Lot 6, Lot 8,
                        sec. 35; Lot4, E½NW¼NW¼, SE¼NW¼, E½SW¼NW¼
                        The area described contains 111.53 acres.

  • Parcel N-89337 is located approximately seven miles north of Ely, Nevada on the west side of Highway 93 in White Pine County, Nevada.

                        T. 17 N., R. 64 E., sec. 7 E½SW¼, SE;
                        The area described contains 240 acres.

The BLM will accept written comments on the proposal during a 15-day public comment period that concludes Monday, May 21, 2018.

The proposed sale would be conducted in accordance with the White Pine County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2006, complies with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, and is in conformance with the 2008 Ely Resource Management Plan.  Five percent of the proceeds from the proposed land sale would go to the Nevada State General Education Fund, 10-percent to White Pine County, and the remainder deposited in a special account for archaeological resources, natural resource protection, recreation and wilderness planning, and other opportunities in White Pine County.

If, after reviewing the comments, the BLM decides to proceed with the sale, a sale date will be scheduled and announced on the BLM website and in the local media at least 15 days in advance of the sale, and a Notice of Realty Action would be published in the Federal Register at least 60 days before the sale.
