CANON CITY, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management, Royal Gorge Field Office, is accepting comments through May 5, 2017, on the newly released Preliminary Alternatives Report and Draft Basis for Analysis for the Eastern Colorado Resource Management Plan. The Preliminary Alternatives Report was started in June 2015. It outlines possible future management scenarios for BLM public lands and includes oil and gas planning for the South Park area. The Draft Basis for Analysis outlines how the BLM would analyze the impacts of management under each alternative.
The BLM is asking the public to review these documents and provide feedback, particularly regarding whether the range of alternatives is adequate or whether information that was provided during scoping has been adequately addressed.
According to Keith Berger, Field Manager for the Royal Gorge Field Office, “Receiving public input on the alternatives at this early stage of the planning process will help us be more efficient and will save time later.”
The BLM plans to host a series of public meetings to discuss the preliminary alternatives and other recently released planning documents in communities throughout eastern Colorado.
To learn more about these documents, how to submit comments, or for updates on upcoming meetings, please go to the Eastern Colorado Resource Management Plan project website: http://on.doi.gov/1HVULcA.
