BLM opening Indian Creek Campground on May 4

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management’s Indian Creek Campground, located adjacent to Indian Creek Reservoir in Alpine County, California, will open Friday May 4, 2018.
Indian Creek Campground is one of the best campground values in the Sierra Nevada with hot showers, flush toilets, an RV sanitary dump station, paved roads and parking sites, bear-proof storage lockers available at each site and on-site campground hosts. Other facilities in the area include a boat launching area, day use picnic area, an interpretive trail and over eight miles of hiking trails.
Please note the following fee schedule for the 2018 camping season:

As of March 1, customers have been able to reserve campground sites on Recreation.gov, including the BLM-operated Indian Creek Campground. For the 2018 season, select sites are reservation based and the remaining sites will continue to be first come first serve. By 2019, most campsites at Indian Creek Campground will be reservable on Recreation.gov.
Recreation.gov is a one-stop resource for reservations, trip planning and information for recreation facilities and activities offered by the BLM and many other Federal agencies. One of the BLM’s and the Department of Interior’s priorities is to connect families and kids to public lands and America’s natural and cultural heritage.
Recreation.gov is the largest outdoor recreation reservation service in the US with over 60,000 reservable facilities at over 2,500 field locations. Recreation.gov offers advance reservations for Federal facilities and activities such as individual campsites, cabins and lookouts, group campsites, tours, picnic shelters and wilderness permits.
The main camp area at the campground has 19 sites that accommodate RV and tent campers. Six of these 19 sites are considered “double” occupancy sites since they have two parking spots, two tent pads and two picnic tables. This area has flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water.
The walk-in tent area, located south of the main camp area, has ten sites with each site accommodating 1 to 2 tents depending on single or double occupancy. Four of the ten tent sites are considered “double” occupancy sites since they have two tent pads and two picnic tables. Sanitary facilities in this area include vault toilets and potable water. With advanced reservations, a group of up to 40 people may camp in the Group campsite that accommodates tents only.
