BLM Mojave-Southern Great Basin Advisory Council to meet in January

LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management today announced meetings of the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council Subcommittees on Recreation and Planning, demonstrating that partnerships and restoring trust while being a good neighbor are vital to multiple use and sustained yield on public lands. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.
Planned agenda items will include, but are not limited to:
January 11 - North Las Vegas City Hall, 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North, 9th Floor Conference Room, North Las Vegas, NV 89030.
- Recreation Subcommittee – 1 to 3 p.m. - presentation and update on Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area recreation fee business plan with discussion; discussion of any motions the Recreation Subcommittee wants to advance to the RAC. Public comment will be held from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
- Planning Subcommittee – 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. - update and discussion regarding utility/transmission corridors, make any recommendations;
update on planning efforts such as Las Vegas In-Valley Area Multi-Action Analysis Environmental Assessment, Resource Management Plans and make any necessary recommendations. Public comment will be held from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
A half-hour comment period, during which the public may address the RAC, is indicated for each meeting above. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.
Resource Advisory Councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve. The 15-member RAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues within the BLM’s Southern Nevada, Battle Mountain and Ely Districts.
