LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comments on a proposed Designated Leasing Area (DLA) east of the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone north of Las Vegas. The proposed DLA would allow BLM to conduct a competitive lease auction for solar development. The BLM will prepare a Resource Management Plan Amendment Environmental Assessment to analyze the designation of the DLA.
A public scoping meeting will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Aliante Library, 2400 Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, NV 89084
The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A presentation will be given every hour beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by an open house meeting where BLM staffers will be available to answer questions until 7:30 p.m. A court reporter will be available to record comments during the entirety of the public scoping meetings.
The public comment period opened on April 13 and will close May 14, 2018. The purpose of the public scoping process is to determine relevant issues that will influence the scope of the environmental analysis, including alternatives, and guide the process for developing the Resource Management Plan Amendment/EA. At present, the BLM has identified the following preliminary issues: threatened and endangered species, the Old Spanish National Historic Trail, visual resource impacts, surface water, recreation, socioeconomic effects, and cumulative impacts.
