ELKO, Nev. – Three fires are active and one was contained yesterday in the BLM Elko District. More than 25,000 acres have been impacted and approximately 570 personnel are on the fire lines.

  • The Echo Fire is currently mapped at 6,428 acres, is 0 percent contained and is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Wells, NV. The fire is burning on lands managed by both the BLM and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in the East Humboldt Range and East Humboldt Wilderness Area.  Full suppression with minimum impact and strategic tactics are being used in the wilderness area. Numerous federal, state, county and local crews with support of air assets and dozers are being used outside of the wilderness area.  Estimated containment is July 11, 2018.
  • The Hogan Fire is mapped at 10,902 acres, is 7 percent contained and is located 25 miles southwest of Wendover, NV. The fire is partially burning in the South Pequop Wilderness Study Area. Full suppression without dozers is taking place in the WSA. Numerous federal, state, county and local crews with support of air assets and dozers are being used outside of the wilderness area.  Estimated containment is July 12, 2018.
  • The Boone Springs Fire is approximately 3,200 acres, is 20 percent contained and is located approximately 42 miles southwest of Wendover, NV. Full suppression is taking place with numerous federal, state, county and local crews with support of air assets and dozers. Estimated containment is July 9, 2018.
  • The HD Fire is 4,992 acres and 100 percent contained. It is located 14 miles north of Wells, NV.
