BLM accepts comments for 2015 special recreation permit applications

MONTROSE, Colo.– The Bureau of Land Management Uncompahgre Field Office is seeking public comments on 17 Special Recreation Permit applications, including two new applications and 15 applications for renewals.
The BLM issues commercial SRPs to provide recreation businesses the opportunity to operate on BLM public lands, provide the public the opportunity to use a guided service for recreation activities, implement recreation management decisions and ensure a fair return to the public for commercial use of public lands. The new SRP applicants are:
Jackson Outfitters (Roy Jackson)-big game and turkey hunting within all Game Management Units in the Uncompaghre Field Office.
Lone Cone Outfitters (Roy Hutt)-big game hunting within GMU 70E.
The SRP renewal applicants include:
- All Out Outfitters (Jacob Robbins)-big game and lion hunting within GMUs 61 and 62
- Biggerstaff Guides and Outfitters (Steve Biggerstaff)-lion hunting in GMUs 61- 65
- Black Bear Lodge (Bobby Starks)-big game and lion hunting in GMUs 61- 65, and 70E
- Black Timber Outfitters (Kent Fischer)-big game and lion hunting in GMUs 61- 65, and 70E
- Bodhi Expeditions (Brady Dunn)-lion hunting within all GMUs in the Uncompaghre Field Office
- Canyon Passages (Matt Robinson)-raft/float on the Lower Gunnison and Dolores rivers
- Carney’s Guide Service (Cliff Carney)-big game and lion hunting in GMUs 61- 65
- Centennial Canoe (Marty Genereux)-canoeing on the Gunnison River from Forks to Delta
- Colorado Twin Peaks (Tom Kimble)-big game and lion hunting in GMUs 61-65, and 70E
- Crested Butte Angler (Jason White)-walk/wade and float fishing on the Gunnison River from Forks to Austin
- Mark Davies Guide Service (Mark Davies)-lion hunting within GMUs 60, 61, 62, 411, 52 and 521
- Telluride Academy (Luke Brown)-climbing in the Paradox Valley, guided mountain biking/hiking in Carpenter’s Ridge, and kayaking/rafting San Miguel and Gunnison rivers
- Telluride Snowmobile Adventures (Mike Doherty)-rafting, floating and fishing as well as walking and wade fishing on the San Miguel River
- Weimer Hunting Camp (Jody Weimer)-big game and lion hunting in GMUs 61, 62 and 70
- Wilderness Aware (Joe Greiner)-rafting, floating and fishing in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area/Wilderness and Dolores River
Details about SRP applications are available for review at the Montrose Public Lands Center located at 2465 S. Townsend Avenue. The BLM requires SRPs for commercial activities as well as for competitive and organized group activities or events on BLM public lands.
