Subject: Cultural Resources Management Data Standard V1.0
This Information Bulletin announces the availability of the Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Spatial Data Standard Version 1.
The Cultural Resources data standard contains requirements and descriptions for five (5) spatially enabled datasets and two (2) tables pertaining to the management of cultural resources on lands managed by Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The purpose of this standard is to define a consistent format and content for electronic information.
This dataset is used to assist in the following internal BLM activities: land use planning and decisions, resource management and protection, resource mapping, pre-field planning, fire suppression activities, Resource Management Planning (RMP) input, predictive modeling, and data sharing. This data should not be used for recreational or "historic interest" area mapping due to the sensitivity of archaeological site locations. However, the data may be usefully employed by a qualified cultural resource professional to assist in creating such a map in collaboration with a recreation planner.
Any questions about this data standard can be directed to Heather Ulrich, Archaeologist, State Data Steward for Cultural Resources Management at 541-683-6425; Steve Salas, Cultural Resources Management Technical Lead at 503-808-6416; Dana Baker-Allum, Geospatial Data Designer at 503-808-6320; or Eric Hiebenthal, State Data Administrator at 503-808-6565.
