Subject: Assignment of Subject Code 1677 – American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act)

Program Area: Records Management and the Recovery Act.

Purpose: This Instruction Memorandum (IM) establishes subject code 1677 for the filing of all information pertaining to the Recovery Act.

Policy/Action: Information pertaining to the Recovery Act must be filed under subject code 1677.

Timeframe: This IM is effective upon receipt.

Budget Impact: None.

Background: The Division of IRM Governance received a request to establish a subject code for the maintenance and disposition of all documents relating to the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) responsibilities under the Recovery Act. The Recovery Act, signed into law on February 19, 2009, includes $320 million for the BLM to expand its capacity to authorize renewable energy development on public lands while ensuring environmental protection of these areas, construct or improve facilities, remediate abandoned mines, restore native habitat and improve public lands. Funding is also included to eliminate underbrush and other vegetation in fire-prone areas in order to reduce the threat and potential severity of fire.
