Subject: Wilderness Explorer: 50th Anniversary Edition Activity Booklet and Recognition Certificate; Notice of Publication and Availability
We are pleased to announce the availability of the recently revised and published Wilderness Explorer: 50th Anniversary Edition activity booklet and recognition certificate. This publication is an interagency effort among the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The booklet has been revised to reflect the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Wilderness Act in 1964.
The booklet is designed for exploring wilderness, either in person or from afar. Activities are geared for children ages 8 and up to adults. It can be used in conjunction with site-specific Junior Explorer booklets to enhance BLM Field Office Junior Explorer programs.
The recognition certificate is to be given to children who demonstrate completion of the activities for their age group.
We are attaching an initial preview copy of the booklet and a certificate for you. Please coordinate with your office Forms Manager to order additional copies (up to 100 per order) free of charge from BLM Printed Materials Distribution Services at the National Operations Center. Booklets and certificates must be ordered together. The PMDS booklet item number is EE2039A and certificate item number is EE2039B.
Please distribute booklets and certificates to BLM staff who work with children’s education programs within your division, State Office, or field office. Copies may also be made available at visitor centers, BLM public rooms, and other appropriate venues.
The booklet is also downloadable from the internal BLM Environmental Education Junior Explorer webpage and from the external BLM Learning Landscapes webpage.
For further information, please contact Megg Heath, BLM National Lead for Education, at mheath@blm.gov or (970) 882-6855.
