California Corral Online Adoption
Welcome to the BLM California Corrals Adoption page! Here you will find wild horses and burros available for adoption or sale at the Litchfield Corrals near Susanville. You can adopt your horse or burro online and arrange a pickup date at the Litchfield Corrals.
The animals listed here are available on a first-come, first-served basis (with all adoption paperwork needing to be completed and signed before animal pick-up is scheduled). We will be diligent about keeping the page up to date but please be understanding if an animal that interests you is adopted prior to you contacting us.
These horses and burros are available for adoption or sale as noted. What is the difference? Adopted animals remain under the BLM’s ownership for at least a year. At the end of the year, the BLM confers title to you as long as you have provided proper care. Sale animals are at least 11 years old or have been offered for adoption at least three times. You will receive title immediately.

The burros came from lands near the Buffalo Hills Herd Management Area in northern Washoe County, Nevada, or were born at the Litchfield Corrals.
The horses are all from the Devils Garden Wild Horse Territory managed by the Modoc National Forest in Modoc County, California.
