Recently honored with the Unsung Hero Award, Colyn exemplifies the commitment and work ethic that keep our facilities in top shape while fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all who enjoy our natural resources.

Colyn has been a part of the BLM team for 11 years. His official title may be “maintenance worker,” but his contributions extend far beyond a simple job description. Colyn is responsible for various maintenance tasks across numerous facilities, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. His responsibilities include everything from repairing broken sprinklers to managing vault toilet maintenance and performing minor repairs on roofs.

“Anything maintenance-related falls under my purview,” Colyn explains, emphasizing the variety of tasks he handles. While his work does not include major construction projects, his role is vital to the daily operations of the Lake Havasu Field Office.

When asked about his favorite aspect of the job, Colyn’s enthusiasm shines through. “I love being out there in the field,” he shares. This passion for hands-on work in the great outdoors is evident in how he approaches his responsibilities—taking pride in keeping the facilities and environments accessible and operational for visitors.
