As Women's History Month draws to a close, this week we will visit Argonia, Kansas, to learn about the first female mayor in U.S. History, Susanna M. Salter. This week's record is of Township 32 South Range 4 West of the 6 Principal Meridian. It was surveyed in March and April of 1871 by A.J. and E.L. Angell. One prominent feature in the map is the depiction of the Chikaskia River, which flows about 145 miles through Kansas and Oklahoma. Read more on ArcGIS Story Maps.
