All campfires are banned on public lands outside of designated campgrounds in Central Oregon with exception of Deschutes National Forest Wilderness areas
SUSANVILLE, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management reminds area residents and visitors to be careful with fire and to leave fireworks at home when they celebrate Independence Day on public lands.
“After a wet spring and two years of plant growth, we have abundant grasses that are drying out quickly,” said Emily Ryan, manager of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office. “These fine fuels can feed wildfires that spread rapidly under hot, dry and windy conditions. We urge everyone to keep fire safety top of mind when they visit the outdoors.”
To protect the public and provide for firefighter safety in light of ongoing wildland fire activity of the Globe Fire (#253), the BLM is closing the western portion of the White Mountains National Recreation Area.
On June 29, 2024, the Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Division of Forestry and USDA Forest Service are implementing Stage 1 fire restrictions in northwestern and central Nevada due to High Fire Danger.
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – With the Independence Day holiday approaching, public land users are reminded that Stage II fire restrictions are still in effect throughout the California Desert District.
Stage II restrictions prohibit setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind and smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or camp trailer unless prohibited by State or local laws. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves are allowed with a valid California Campfire Permit.
As the weather continues to warm and fire danger increases, Bureau of Land Management Medford District officials are implementing public use restrictions on BLM-managed lands in southern Oregon.
