Update: Construction timeline shifts for Whitehouse Road Improvement Project
Update from previous news release published Feb. 6, 2024
KANAB, Utah — In the interest of public safety, the BLM will temporarily close Whitehouse Road for crane and heavy equipment operations on the following dates:
- Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024
- Monday, Feb. 26 through Thursday, Feb 29, 2024
- Monday, March 4, 2024
Access to the Whitehouse Campground and Trailhead will be closed on the dates listed above.
Additionally, access from the Wahweap Wash to Nautilus Trail will close beginning today through the completion of this road improvement project, which is anticipated be done on or before Friday, March 29, 2024.
Road improvements will include road re-alignment and replacement of a low water crossing with a box culvert. The project will eliminate future reroutes by rebuilding the road in more stable conditions away from the Paria River’s edge and eliminating future safety concerns.
Upon re-opening of Whitehouse Road, passing motorists are reminded to use caution and follow all safety signs as access may be intermittent until the project is complete.
