Trails Center to host drop spinning workshop August 3
Event Description
CASPER, Wyo. – The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center invites you to learn an art that dates back to the Middle Ages with our upcoming drop spinning workshop, led by the talented fiber artist, Joe Rodgers. The workshop will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on August 3.
“Joe produces beautiful pieces of art and we are lucky to have him share his drop spinning talents with us in August,” says BLM education technician Stacey Moore.
Drop spinning is a foundation for quilting, knitting, and even Egyptian mummy mask making. The workshop will walk through the basics of spinning yard out of Wyoming wool with a beginner drop spindle.
Basic materials will be provided to workshop participants, including raw wool produced in Wyoming. Participants will also be loaned beginner spindles for learning.
Registration is open to a limited number of participants. Please see the following link to register https://forms.office.com/g/UPG88sUtD5.
