Temporary closure of routes on public lands announced for 2025 Rhino Rally motorcycle race in the BLM Arizona Strip Field Office area
ST. GEORGE, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Strip Field Office announces the temporary closure of selected transportation routes on public lands for the 2025 Wizard’s Rhino Rally Race in Mohave County, Arizona. The race has been a long-standing event for the past 41 years and draws an average of 300 participants yearly. The closure will be in effect from 6 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
“These temporary closures are designed to keep participants, spectators, and the visiting public safe during this year’s race,” said Lorraine Christian, Arizona Strip Field Manager. “These precautions help ensure safe and successful events.”
In order to ensure public safety, the BLM asks visitors to plan recreational use and routes in advance to avoid routes that will be temporarily closed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the one-day event. Please refer to the map posted on BLM Arizona’s webpage for details on closed routes.
Access to public lands in and around the racecourse will be temporarily closed, restricted, or designated as spectator areas for the duration of the race event. Restricted and closed routes will be marked at key access points with signs, fencing, or barriers. A map and information regarding the race course closures are attached. Copies of the maps are also available to the public at the Arizona Strip Field Office, 345 E Riverside Dr, St George, Utah.
BLM special recreation permits require event organizers to comply with all Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, orders, postings, or written requirements applicable to the area or operations covered by the Special Recreation Permit (SRP). The event organizer shall ensure that all persons operating under the authorization have obtained all required Federal, State, and local licenses, certifications, or registrations. The event organizer shall ensure the compliance with these requirements by all agents of the event organizer and by all clients, customers, participants, and spectators under the event organizer’s supervision.
