Event Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Yuma Field Office is announcing a presentation by BLM archaeologists focused on cultural resource preservation laws and local archeology. The presentation will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 28, 2024, at Butterfield Park, Wellton, Arizona. This event aims to educate the public on the importance of preserving cultural resources in the area and how these efforts align with BLM's multiple-use mission. There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions and engage with BLM archaeologists regarding the topics discussed.

The presentation will include a comprehensive overview of cultural resource preservation laws, artifact identification, and the history of these artifacts within the desert landscape with an emphasis on off-highway vehicle (OHV) users. Attendees will gain insights into the methods used by BLM archeologists to protect these resources while ensuring that they are available for future generations.
