NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY EVENT

September 21, 9 AM - 2 PM

**Registration through the Colorado Canyons Association event site required.

Volunteers will assist BLM and CCA staff in lopping and scattering small pinyons and junipers on BLM lands west of Maher, CO. You will use loppers and hand saws to cut down saplings that could one day serve as perches for predators of the threatened Gunnison sage-grouse. The felled trees will help retain soil moisture and provide habitat for small animals, improving the land for Gunnison sage-grouse habitat.

Where: Gunnison Gorge NCA near Crawford, CO (Exact coordinates provided upon registration.)

  • Please bring food, water, work gloves, eye protection, long pants, and closed-toed shoes
  • Tools, orange vests, and National Public Lands Day t-shirts provided.
