Event Description

CASPER, Wyo. – Casper-based historian Kylie L. McCormick will present “Collaboration on the Border: Marking the Historic Trail on the Nebraska-Wyoming Line“ at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center.

When Ezra Meeker crossed the country in 1852 along the pioneer trail, he mostly passed through unorganized territory. However, when Meeker retraced the trail back east in 1906, he encountered miles of barbed wire and designated state borders. Meeker’s monument expedition inspired public-private partnerships across the country as individual states pushed to mark the trail within their borders - but what about the places where the trail crosses from one state into the next?

Join us as McCormick discusses the partnership between Nebraska and Wyoming to mark the historic trails at the border.

Born and raised in Casper, McCormick returned home after studying in Virginia, Germany, England, and Nebraska – bringing with her two bachelor’s degrees and a Master of Arts in history. Since returning to Wyoming, McCormick has dedicated herself to education and Wyoming history.
