Event Description
KEMMERER, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer Field Office is inviting the community to celebrate National Public Lands Day by participating in a sagebrush planting event. The event will take place on September 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. All interested parties can meet at the county turnaround for County Road 341, Twin Creek-North Road. For directions, please refer to the following google pin: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qERMy5bKNV1Ft4c66.
This event will contribute to the final reclamation of the Fossil Well #1 site, an oil and gas orphan well that was successfully plugged by the BLM in 2021. Volunteers will help plant 200 sagebrush seedlings on the reclamation site, which is within sage grouse core habitat. Public involvement is key in these efforts to restore the ecosystem and habitat for the local wildlife.
UTV shuttles will be provided to transport participants from the meeting point to the well site. The event is expected to last until approximately 5 p.m. BLM staff from the Kemmerer Field Office will be on hand to assist with the planting. Individuals, families, and community members are encouraged to join in this important effort to protect and restore our public lands.
