Colorado River Valley Field Office seeks public comment on a proposed “rock-crawling” trail northeast of Silt
The Bureau of Land Management Colorado River Valley Field Office seeks public comment on a proposed 1.2-mile 4x4 vehicle “rock-crawling” trail northeast of Silt.
Hi Country 4 Wheelers is proposing the trail to provide a high-quality, unique rock-crawling trail experience on Silt Mesa. The trail would traverse up a draw on the south side of the Grand Hogback.
Rock-crawling trails are gaining in popularity across the West. They incorporate natural obstacles such as rocks, boulders, steep inclines, and uneven terrain to provide challenging, slow-speed off-road experiences for vehicles typically modified for rough terrain. The trail would require no major construction except for potentially placing one or two large rocks in pinch points, as it would incorporate natural features. The trail's alignment within an existing draw would naturally define its path.
The 30-day public scoping period will continue through April 11. Additional information is posted on the BLM’s ePlanning website.
Comments may be submitted electronically through BLM’s ePlanning website linked above or by mail to the Bureau of Land Management Colorado River Valley Field Office, Attn: Jacob Casey, 2300 River Frontage Road, Silt, CO 81652
