Christmas tree permits available in east Idaho
POCATELLO, Idaho—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is issuing $10 Christmas tree permits from Nov. 13 through Dec. 24, 2024. The permits allow the public to harvest one tree per family from BLM-managed public lands in southeastern Idaho.
To access online sale of Christmas tree permits, visit forestproducts.blm.gov. If you prefer, over-the-counter permits can be purchased at the BLM Pocatello Field Office at 4350 S. Cliffs Drive, Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The permits are valid for BLM-managed public lands within the boundaries of the Pocatello and Upper Snake field offices, including traditional Christmas tree harvest areas such as the Deep Creek, Pleasantview, and Samaria Ranges.
Trees may not be harvested in these areas managed by the BLM Pocatello Field Office:
- Petticoat Peak and Worm Creek Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs)
- Wolverine Canyon
- BLM-administered campgrounds
Trees may also not be harvested in these areas within the BLM Upper Snake Field Office boundary:
- WSAs: Sand Mountain, Black Canyon, Appendicitis Hill, Snake River Islands, Henrys Lake
- White Knob Mountains
- Hell’s Half Acre
- Hawley Mountain
- China Cup
- Cedar Butte
- Burnt Creek
- BLM-administered campgrounds
You must have a valid permit to cut or remove trees from public lands. Please note that tag prices and restrictions are different for trees cut on U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service lands. There may be other areas where Christmas tree cutting on public lands is not permitted, so please contact the BLM Pocatello Field Office at 208-478-6340.
