BLM seeks public input on proposed Pinyon Solar Project
PHOENIX — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on the proposed Pinyon Solar Project on 1,730 acres of public lands in Maricopa County. If approved, 265BH 8me LLC, a subsidiary of Avantus, LLC, could construct a photovoltaic solar facility and integrated battery energy storage system in the Mobile Valley about 11 miles west of Maricopa. The project is expected to produce and store up to 300 megawatts of utility-scale energy.
If approved, 265BH 8me LLC could also construct, operate, and maintain a 500-kilovolt electrical generation tie (gen-tie) transmission line across about two miles of public and private lands and connect to the regional electrical grid at the Pinal West Substation in Pinal County.
Additional information, including the draft environmental assessment, is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now" option (preferred). Comments may also be emailed to BLM_AZ_PDO_Solar@blm.gov or delivered to BLM Lower Sonoran Field Office, attn: Pinyon Solar, 2020 E. Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022. The comment period will close May 27, 2025.
