ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a preliminary environmental assessment for the proposed Nevada North Lithium Exploration Project in Elko County. If approved, Surge Battery Metals USA, Inc., would be authorized to conduct lithium mineral exploration activities through phased exploration over the course of three years. The Project plan proposes disturbance of up to 250 total acres across 7,819 acres of public lands.

The proposed exploration work would include drilling, bulk sampling, infiltration testing, and test pits to support hydrogeologic and geotechnical investigations. Access roads would be constructed as necessary and all project-related surface disturbances would be restored upon completion of exploration activities.

Project planning documents are available at the BLM National NEPA Register where comments can be submitted through the “Participate Now” option (preferred). Comments may also be emailed to WellsFO_NEPA@blm.gov or delivered to BLM Wells Field Office, Attn: Nevada North Lithium Exploration Project, 3900 East Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801. The comment period will close January 20, 2024.
