BLM seeks input on proposed Gemfield Resources gold exploration
BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment for proposed gold exploration on public and private lands near Goldfield in Esmeralda County.
If approved, Gemfield Resources, LLC, could conduct geophysical surveys, improve or build access roads, perform exploratory drilling and trenching, and eventually return modified areas to their natural state across approximately 15,294 acres. Approximately 5,269 of those acres are BLM-administered public lands and 10,025 acres are private lands above federal mineral estate. The plan proposes phased exploration over 10 years with up to 400 acres of total surface disturbance.
Additional information, including the draft environmental assessment, is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option (preferred).
