KREMMLING, Colo. – Winter wildlife and seasonal road closures start in December on Bureau of Land Management public lands in Grand, Jackson and Routt counties.

Little Snake Field Office Seasonal Closure

December 1 - June 30

All areas south of the Ridge Trail within the Emerald Mountain Special Recreation Management Area outside Steamboat Springs, including the Beall Trail and Kemry Draw are closed to all forms of entry to protect elk during calving season.

Kremmling Field Office Seasonal Closures

December 15 - April 15

The Wolford Mountain Special Recreation Management Area and adjacent motorized routes which include BLM public lands between U.S. Highway 40 and Grand County Road 2 (Troublesome Road) are closed to wheeled motorized travel. Motorized travel is limited to over-the-snow tracked vehicles on BLM public lands along Grand County roads 224, 25, 26 and 2 when there is a minimum of 12 inches of snow. 

All other travel routes and areas on BLM public lands on Wolford Mountain will be closed to all wheeled motorized use. Non-motorized use is allowed during winter motorized travel restrictions. Restrictions may be modified based on conditions in the Wolford area.

The North Sand Hills Special Recreation Management Area in Jackson County is closed to motorized and mechanized vehicles, including snowmobiles.

December 15 - May 31

The Wolford Mountain Single-Track is closed to all motorized users.

December 15 - June 1

The Grouse Mountain Road is closed to all wheeled motorized users.

December 15 - April 15

The Inspiration Point Flats Road north of Trough Road (Grand County Road 1) is closed to all motorized users.

December 15 - June 1

The Black Mountain Road from Grand County Road 2 is closed to all wheeled motorized users.

The Sulphur Gulch Road from U.S. Highway 40 is closed to all wheeled motorized users.

The North Parshall Divide Road between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parshall is closed to all wheeled motorized users.

The Kinney Creek Road east of Hot Sulphur Springs and 2.2 miles north of U.S. Highway 40 is closed to all wheeled motorized users. Please stage on BLM lands and do not block private driveways.

The Hogback Road is closed to all wheeled motorized users from Colorado Highway 125.

The Strawberry Road is closed to all motorized vehicles including snowmobiles and other tracked vehicles from the Fraser River Canyon Trail parking area.

The Hurd Peak Road is closed to all motorized vehicles including snowmobiles and other tracked vehicles from the intersection of Strawberry Road.
