BLM invites public participation in Nebraska land use plan revision process
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. – Did you know, the Bureau of Land Management administers 5,000 surface acres of public lands and nearly 224,000 acres of federal mineral estate across the state of Nebraska? These lands are managed in accordance with a resource management plan (RMP), of which the BLM’s Nebraska RMP is more than 30 years old.
In an effort to update this plan, the BLM released a Draft Nebraska RMP and associated environmental analysis on Nov. 15, 2024, opening a 90-day public comment period. The BLM is offering in-person public meetings in Scottsbluff and Valentine, Neb., to provide information and solicit feedback during the comment period.
We invite the public to attend these meetings to learn more about the BLM and what is being proposed in the Draft RMP. Each open house-style meeting will be held from 3:30-7:30 p.m., featuring presentations at 4 p.m. and repeated again at 6 p.m., on the following dates and locations.
- January 21, 2025 – Platte Valley Companies Community Center, 2019 11th Ave., Scottsbluff, NE
- January 22, 2025 – Cherry County Fairgrounds, 120 S Green St., Valentine, NE
- January 22, 2025 – Can’t attend in person? Join the Valentine meeting virtually via Zoom. Register now at https://empsi.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_78ZxQsDxS6aIng82TW5rhA
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option will be available via Zoom on January 22, coinciding with the in-person meeting in Valentine. More information, including the Zoom link, is posted to the project website below.
Written comments on the Draft RMP and EIS will be accepted until Feb. 13, 2025. To review the documents and submit comments, visit the project website. Comments may also be submitted by email or mail to the following addresses, or in-person at the public meetings.
