COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho–The public is invited to join the Idaho Resource Advisory Council (RAC) on a field tour of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) managed recreation sites on Tuesday, May 14, from 8:15 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) to approximately 4 p.m.  The RAC will then participate in an in-person Wednesday, May 15 meeting that includes a virtual participation option.  The field tour will commence and conclude, and the meeting will be held at the Interagency Natural Resources Center, 3232 W. Nursery Rd., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.  A public comment period will be offered at 3 p.m. PT.

Agenda items will include proposed recreational fees increases within the Coeur d’Alene District and the Salmon Field Office, a fire outlook, and updates from the Idaho State and District Offices.

“The Coeur d’Alene District manages some of BLM Idaho’s most popular recreation sites,” said BLM Acting Idaho State Director June Shoemaker. “We look forward to the RAC members’ perspectives on fee proposals to help maintain these facilities, while providing outstanding recreational opportunities that are still affordable.”

The 15-member BLM Idaho RAC brings together stakeholders with diverse interests to provide advice and recommendations to the BLM on issues and challenges associated with the Bureau’s multiple use mission.

Members of the public who wish to participate in the field tour must provide their own transportation and meals.  Individuals who plan to attend the tour should RSVP by Friday, May 10, to BLM Idaho RAC Coordinator MJ Byrne at mbyrne@blm.gov or 208-373-4006.

Individuals will be able to address the Idaho RAC during the public comment period. The amount of time and number of speakers may depend upon how many individuals wish to speak.  Written comments may also be submitted before the meeting to MJ Byrne. A complete agenda and Zoom registration information are available on the BLM Idaho RAC website at https://on.doi.gov/3SUKbJL. Please contact the BLM for reasonable accommodations to participate.
