BLM investigating vandalism at Old Quarry Trails near Newcastle, offers reward
Newcastle, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management is investigating another instance of vandalism at the Old Quarry Trails area located east of Newcastle, Wyo. To aid in the investigation, the BLM is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the identification and conviction of those responsible for the damage.
In September, the kiosk was found damaged with bullet holes, marking a continuation of vandalism that has plagued the area. A camera placed to monitor the area was also shot.
The kiosk was installed in May 2022, and shortly after, was damaged on two separate occasions by shooting. The glass and back panel had since been replaced.
The Old Quarry Trail system is a collaborative effort between the BLM, the Bent Sprockets Bike Club, private donors, and other volunteers to provide safe and accessible recreation opportunities for the community.
