BLM to hold public meetings on proposed Newcastle land use plan revision
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. – To engage with the community and gather public input, the Bureau of Land Management is hosting a series of public meetings in January where people can learn more about the Draft Newcastle and Nebraska Resource Management Plans (RMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The BLM published the Draft RMP and EIS on Nov. 15, 2024, initiating a 90-day public comment period.
Each in-person public meeting will be open house-style and held from 3:30-7:30 p.m., featuring a presentation at 4 p.m. and repeated again at 6 p.m. on the following dates and locations. Two meetings will also be held in Nebraska and will be announced separately.
- January 14, 2025 – Crook County Courthouse – Community Room, 309 E. Cleveland St., Sundance, WY
- January 15, 2025 – Newcastle Lodge and Convention Center – Cambria Room, 22918 US-85, Newcastle, WY
- January 16, 2025 – Niobrara County Fairgrounds, 4080 US-20, Lusk, WY
- January 23, 2025 – Virtual via Zoom from 5-7 p.m.
For those unable to attend in person or in case of inclement weather, a virtual option will be available via Zoom from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. More information, including a Zoom link, will be posted to the project website linked below.
Written comments on the Draft RMPs and EIS will be accepted until Feb. 13, 2025. To review the documents and submit comments, visit the project website. Comments may also be submitted by email or mail to the following addresses, or in-person at the public meetings.
