BLM Colorado welcomes new Deputy State Director for Support Services and State Fire Management Officer

LAKEWOOD, Colo – BLM Colorado is pleased to announce that Karren Haslam and Tyko Isaacson have joined the team filling key leadership roles at the State Office. Karren Haslam is the Deputy State Director for Support Services and Tyko Isaacson steps in as State Fire Management Officer.

“We are excited to have Karren and Tyko join BLM Colorado. They’ve both demonstrated their ability to lead and their commitment to managing our nation’s public lands. I look forward to working with them at the State Office,” said Doug Vilsack, Colorado State Director. 

Karren previously served as the Assistant District Manager for Support Services in the Green River District of BLM Utah. With 16 years of experience at BLM, Karren has also worked as an Information Receptionist and Fire Business Lead for the Utah State Office. Prior to her federal career, Karren was in the Air Force for nearly a decade. 

“I am thrilled for this opportunity and eager to explore the stunning landscapes of Colorado. I look forward to supporting the BLM mission in my new role,” said Haslam. 

Tyko has joined BLM Colorado from Forest Service Regional Fire Operations in the Pacific Northwest. He previously served as a Fire Management Officer in the Central Zone of the Upper Colorado River and has experience as a deputy fire staff officer, fuels specialist, smokejumper, and handcrew captain. Having worked in the Rocky Mountains, Great Basin, and Northern Rockies, Tyko brings a wealth of expertise to the fire team.
