Event Description

KEMMERER, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management’s Kemmerer Field Office is seeking public comment on a planned environmental assessment associated with Exxon Mobil’s Carbon Capture Phase 1 project. This EA will analyze the potential effects of a disposal well pad, access road and buried 8-inch pipeline in the project area.

Exxon Mobile’s “SC 7-34 CO2 Disposal Well Pad and Pipeline Project” is the second disposal well associated with this project and will be permitted by the Wyoming State Oil and Gas Commission as a Class II disposal well. The proposed well pad and access road are located in Section 34, Township 24 North, Range 112 West. The proposed pipeline would be approximately 12.5 miles long. It will follow an existing pipeline corridor and access road for roughly 8 miles, running from the Shute Creek CO2 sales facility north to the proposed well. Access to the well pad is off Wyoming Highway 189 to the Fontenelle North County Road 316.

A virtual public meeting will be held on April 17 from 4-5 p.m. to invite public comments on the proposal. Interested parties can join the meeting at https://blm.zoomgov.com/j/1612846329?pwd=b0FJNEl6dTNrVmhyUEtTaEY0RFdPdz09. The 15-day public scoping period will begin after the meeting and end May 1. Additional project information, including how to attend the meeting virtually, is posted on the BLM’s ePlanning website at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2031929/510
