BLM announces public meetings on planning effort for Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites the public to engage in the land use planning process by attending public meetings, in-person or virtual, to discuss the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument DRAFT Environmental Impact Statement/Resource Management Plan. 

The BLM will host two in-person meetings in Las Cruces. The dates for the meetings will be June 5 at the City of Las Cruces Council Chambers, 700 North Main Street from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. The second date will be June 6 at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 East Picacho Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88001, from 5-7 p.m.

Public meetings provide public and private stakeholders an opportunity to get involved in the planning process and express their position regarding land use allocations and resource management goals, objectives, and direction for the protection and preservation of the Monument. Public meetings provide interested persons the opportunity to speak with BLM land use planners and resource specialists, learn about the project, and provide feedback. Documents will be available for public review at the BLM office during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), Monday through Friday, except holidays.
