Shasta Campground
Camp in one of 27 tent/trailer campsites near the Chappie-Shasta Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area. The Chappie-Shasta OHV Area offers over 200 miles of roads and trails on approximately 52,000 acres for off-road enthusiasts. Elevation within this area ranges from 600 to 5000 feet with a wide variety of topography, soil, and vegetation types. The southeastern portions offer rocky and challenging terrain, while the more remote northwestern portions offer scenic views of Mt. Shasta, Lake Shasta, and the Trinity Alps.

This first-come, first-served Campground is off Shasta Dam Blvd (CA State Route 151). A shaded kiosk with site and safety information sits on a paved surface at the entrance. There is no cell phone service.
A paved loop road runs through the Campground and connects the individual campsites, including the site where the camp host lives year-round. The loop leads to a designated accessible parking space in front of an accessible double vault toilet. There is a water hydrant with an easy-to-use paddle valve near the toilet.
Campsite 22 is a designated accessible campsite with a hardened-ground surface, an extended-top picnic table to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs, and an accessible double-walled fire ring. This campsite is next to the accessible toilet.
The paved loop road connects the Campground to a day-use area. The parking lot for this area has 2 designated accessible parking spots that share an access aisle for vehicles with a mobility device ramp or lift. There are 3 unshaded picnic tables sitting on grass, 1 accessible water hydrant with a paddle valve, and a bear-proof trash receptacle. Visitors can take a short gravel and dirt path to get a good view of the river.

Along Keswick Reservoir, below Shasta Dam. Take I-5 north from Redding about 10 miles to Shasta Dam Blvd. Follow Shasta Dam Blvd. to Shasta Dam (Dam hours are 6AM to 10PM), cross the dam, turn left and follow the road about 2 miles down to the campground and staging area. To cross Shasta Dam you must show a valid driver's license and vehicle registration, and your vehicle and trailer may be subject to inspection.
