Log Gulch Recreation Site
The Log Gulch Recreation Site provides visitors with 70 campsites with a 7-day stay limit. All but 2 of the campsites can accommodate RV or tent camping (or a combination of both); 2 campsites are tent-only sites. While tent camping is available at all campsites, only a limited number have grassy or optimally flat tent camping surfaces. Campsites are primitive, without hookups, but each campsite does have a fire pit and picnic table. Potable water is accessible at various locations throughout the area. Note that quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. No generator use is allowed during this time. Do not camp outside numbered sites. Camp hosts or staff members are typically available onsite 7 days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
This site has a loading dock with a boat ramp on each side. Two docks with boat slips are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Boat slips are included in the camping/day-use fee. A fish cleaning station is also available 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. daily.
The recreation site also has a beach with an enclosed swimming area, available Memorial Day through Labor Day (no lifeguard on duty). Restrooms are available throughout the site, and the restroom closest to the beach has a changing room.
Two ramada shelters are available for public use. The upper ramada is available if group reservations are not already in effect. The lower ramada is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the Butte Field Office for reservation details. Hiking trails can be reached from the park.

Parking: Parking is available at multiple locations within the site, with accessible parking spaces scattered throughout both the day-use area and the camping area.
- In the day-use area, 2 designated accessible parking spaces by the boat launch share an access aisle, and 2 additional spaces are marked as accessible. There is another accessible space with an access aisle next to the picnic pavilion in this area, though wrinkled pavement on this space may pose challenges.
- In the camping area, 1 accessible parking space is available next to the BLM contact station. There is another accessible space near the picnic pavilion in the Upper Loop.
Toilets: The site has multiple accessible restroom facilities in the day-use and camping areas. These include:
- 6 single vault toilets scattered throughout the camping areas.
- 1 double vault toilet in the day-use area.
Potable water: An accessible water hydrant is located near the pavilion in the day-use area and 2 others are available in the Upper Loop in the camping area.
Paved trails/pathways: There are paved trails through the site. The trails leading to the beach and boat ramp have a shallow slope. Be aware that wear and tear have created uneven surfaces in some parts of the trail system.
Campsites: Campsites 47 and 49 in the Upper Loop are accessible, with paved parking spurs. There are paved pathways leading from the campsites to the nearby covered picnic shelter, which sits on a concrete pad and has accessible picnic tables.
Most of the other campsites at the campground have picnic tables with an extended end to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Fire rings at the other sites are on natural surface, but the picnic tables sit on concrete pads.
Cell phone reception: There is no cell phone service at this site.
NOTE: Descriptions and photos uploaded January 2025. Please note that actual on-the-ground conditions may vary due to natural events (e.g., weather, wildfires, erosion), normal wear and tear, or site improvements.
