Lodgepole Campground

Nestled under the pine trees of Muddy Mountain, Lodgepole Campground provides 15 camping sites that include level tent pads and fire rings, with a few pull-through sites for large trailers/RVs. Two double-vaulted toilets are provided for campers’ comfort.

The Campground sits in the middle of the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, where an accessible Interpretive Nature Trail connects the Lodgepole and Rim campgrounds. The Area also includes a trail system accommodating hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Potable water is available at Lodgepole to quench your thirst after a day of fun.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)

There is no established parking lot for Lodgepole, though there is one designated accessible parking space near a campsite on the back (west) side of the gravel loop road running through the Campground. A kiosk with safety and other information sits near the entrance. Cell phone reception is spotty.

One of the accessible toilets sits in the middle of the camping loop. The other is next to the campsite with the designated space on the west side of loop. All campsites have fire rings with a grill attachment, except for 1 site that has a fire pit only. In addition, each site has at least 1 accessible picnic table with an extended top to accommodate wheelchair users. There are no picnic shelters at the Campground but tree coverage provides some shade.

The Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area has a 2-mile accessible trail that connects the Rim and Lodgepole Campgrounds. It has 28 interpretive signs and two scenic overlooks.

Descriptions and photos uploaded February 2025. Please note that actual on-the-ground conditions may vary due to natural events (e.g., weather, wildfires, erosion), normal wear and tear, or site improvements.
