Baker Dam Recreation Area
Located at the base of the majestic Pine Valley Mountains, the Baker Dam Reservoir area provides a cool escape from St. George and nearby communities. Managed by the Baker Dam Reservoir Association and frequently stocked with trout by the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources, it is a popular fishing spot, especially during spring and fall. The Baker Dam Recreation Area is accessible year-round.
In addition to fishing, Baker Dam Recreation Area serves as a great hub for hunters seeking deer, quail, and rabbit, as well as off-highway vehicle enthusiasts exploring higher elevations. Please adhere to all Federal, State, and local hunting and OHV regulations, as much of the land surrounding the reservoir is private, except for the southern end which is public.
The Baker Dam Campground, managed by BLM's St. George Field Office, welcomes campers year-round. The campsites offer picnic tables, fire rings, and nearby vault toilets, but there is no potable water available. It is necessary to make camping reservations up to six months in advance through recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777. Day-of reservations can be made via the recreation.gov mobile app if sites are available.
For day-use visitors, Baker Dam Campground provides several picnic sites with shade structures, picnic tables, fire rings, and toilets available in the nearby campground. Remember to bring your own potable water, as it is not provided. The day use sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are free of charge.
