BLM CO RGFO Shelf Road Recreation Area Map

Located along the Gold Belt Tour Scenic & Historic Byway north of Cañon City, the Shelf Road Recreation Area is one of the most popular sport-climbing destinations in Colorado. Two BLM campgrounds support overnight visitation: Sand Gulch Campground and The Bank Campground (see respective maps for details). Visitors on foot, horseback, and OHVs may also access the surrounding BLM-managed lands via primitive motorized roads and trails. Licensed vehicles may wish to continue north to Cripple Creek for scenic views from the Byway. Much of the BLM-managed land in this area is closed to target shooting.
