The Bureau of Land Management, Ukiah Field Office, plans to conduct prescribed fire operations in the Point Arena – Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument in Mendocino County. Pile-burn operations could start as soon as Oct. 1, and may continue periodically through the fall, winter and spring. Prescribed fire operations will take place only when weather and fuel moistures allow for safe and successful burning.
The Bureau of Land Management and Lassen Land and Trails Trust are inviting outdoor enthusiasts to help with Lassen County cleanup and improvement projects in recognition of National Public Lands Day and Susanville Hometown Pride on Saturday, Sept. 28. Projects will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the historic Susanville Railroad Depot and along the Bizz Johnson Trail.
The history, archaeological record and ongoing preservation efforts at the Falk townsite in the Bureau of Land Management Headwaters Forest Reserve will be topics of a free presentation, Saturday, Oct. 5, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Clarke Museum, 240 E St., in Eureka.
The Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office would like to encourage all visitors who plan on camping in the Alabama Hills this fall to plan ahead and prepare in order to have the best camping experience possible while enjoying and taking care of public lands. Camping in the Alabama Hills from mid-September through November can be very busy, with campsites filling up on weekends.  Additionally, the main access to the Hills through Whitney Portal Road is closed and visitors must use an alternate route, which adds travel time to get to Movie Road.
The Bureau of Land Management Northern California District Resource Advisory Council will convene for a field tour and meeting, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 25 and 26, in Cedarville. The tour and meeting are open to the public.

The Bureau of Land Management California Desert District has selected Philip DeSenze as the field manager for the Ridgecrest Field Office. In his new role, he oversees the management of about 1.8 million acres of public lands in Kern, Inyo, and San Bernardino counties. DeSenze joins the BLM from the U.S. Forest Service where he served as District Ranger on the Inyo National Forest since 2019. DeSenze started his position earlier this week.  
The Bureau of Land Management Central Coast Field Office is issuing an emergency closure of the Condon Peak Recreation Area and Campground in Fresno County, due to wildland fire danger from the nearby Boone Fire and existing evacuation orders. This temporary closure is effective immediately, until further notice.
ARCATA, Calif. – The story of Falk, a historic town and lumber mill in the Headwaters Forest Reserve, will be told in a free guided archaeology walk offered by the Bureau of Land Management, Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants should meet at the Elk River Trail parking area. Registration is not required.
REDDING, Calif.— Volunteers are welcome to help the Bureau of Land Management and River Partners plant more than 30,000 trees along Battle Creek south of Anderson, kicking off a project to restore 150 acres of habitat critical for fish and other wildlife. The project is set for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, at 3770 Gover Road, Anderson.
The Bureau of Land Management will continue fuels reduction work in the King Range National Conservation Area to reduce the risk of wildfire and restore forest health. The work will begin in September and continue until February 2025. Work will occur along King Peak Road and the Paradise Royal Mountain Bike Trail.

If approved, the project could generate up to 400 megawatts of solar energy and 650 megawatts of battery storage capacity, delivering clean renewable electricity to the statewide transmission grid. The comment period will close September 20.
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting a virtual public meeting of the Central California Resource Advisory Council (RAC) on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The business meeting will include a public comment period and the agenda topics can be reviewed in advance.
The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on the draft environmental assessment and land use plan amendment for the proposed Morongo Canyon Highway 62 Multi-Tenant Wireless Broadband Communications Site.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Mother Lode Field Office is temporarily closing motorized vehicle access to the Hunter Valley Mountain Access Road in Mariposa County, where it crosses onto BLM lands, approximately one mile from the junction of Hunter Valley Mountain Access Road with Bear Valley Road. The closure is effective today, Thursday, August 15, and will be in effect until fire restrictions are lifted for the season. The closure of the Hunter Valley Mountain Access Road is not to be confused with the Hunter Valley Road which remains open. The Hunter Valley Road is located approximately two miles east of the Hunter Valley Mountain Access Road along Bear Valley Road. The temporary closure order can be found on the BLM website.
Public access to parts of three recreation trails in the west Redding area will be restricted while crews from the Bureau of Land Management repair damages related to the Lower Fire which broke out Aug. 10 near the community of Shasta.
